Open World Games
When talking about open-world games we mean video games that are characterized by the open structure of the presented world, which allows for unrestricted exploration. Another commonly used name for this type of experience is sandbox although the meaning of this term is slightly different.
Deg games with an open world has become an increasingly popular practice. Most of the big and popular titles are d as ones with open worlds. Starting from the GTA series (eg Grand Theft Auto V, or Grand Theft Auto: Vice City), which were on the first truly successful games, and ending with the Polish RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which impresses with fantasy medieval setting landscapes.
The development of games and gaming gear has made open-world games possible. One of the first games that can boast of being such a sandbox was the Japanese Yakuza released on the Nintendo Dreamcast. Nowadays many games series move from closed locations to open worlds. In some games, such a solution works better, in others it doesn’t quite deliver the goods. It is more difficult to maintain consistency of the game in games where the player can indulge in any activity on the map.
An open-world is not just a vast area, in which you can move freely. The games with open worlds also mean that there is a multitude of activities that you can perform. This is done perfectly in the abovementioned GTA series, in which the world is full of all sorts of things to be found, activities, or side missions. Open world games should not give you the impression that you’re traveling in empty space. That would be boring. Another feature of sandboxes is the lack of artificial restrictions. You do not have any invisible barriers on the world’s map, and the transitions between successive sections should not be interrupted by loading screens. However, to naturally narrow down the area of the game, obstacles in the form of high mountains or the sea are common.
When talking about such games we mean video games which are characterized by the open structure of the presented world, which allows for unrestricted exploration. Another commonly used name for this type of experience is sandbox although the meaning of this term is slightly different.
